Pool-Scope Survey

Unlock the Full Efficiency Potential of Your Pool Water Treatment System

Our Pool-Scope Survey is a comprehensive assessment of your swimming pool’s water treatment system operating efficiency.

Our Pool-Scope Survey helps answer critical questions:

  • Is your water treatment system operating as efficiently as possible?

  • Are you using the most effective combination of treatment chemicals and methods?

  • Do your operating procedures align with industry best practice?

  • Can performance be improved through simple, low-cost changes?

  • What are the key opportunities when planning an upgrade?

Using the Passive House standard, PWTAG guidelines, and industry best practice as a benchmark, the Pool-Scope Survey investigates the entire water treatment regime, delivering actionable insights and clear recommendations.

What We Assess

Unlike general energy audits, our survey covers crucial yet often overlooked specialist areas of pool water treatment and operations, including:

  • Hydraulic performance and energy efficiency of your whole filtration plant

  • Disinfection efficiency and chemical usage benchmarking

  • Detailed water chemistry and pool water quality analysis

  • The condition and performance of key water treatment equipment

What You’ll Receive

Following the on-site assessment (typically one full day on-site for 1–2 pool facilities), you'll receive:

  • A comprehensive survey report highlighting the current performance and energy efficiency of your pool water treatment system

  • Opportunities to optimise your existing system

  • Recommendations for future upgrades and operational improvements

  • Cost estimates for potential future upgrades

  • A Review of your Pool Technical Operating Procedures (PTOP) and advice on practices or compliance gaps.

Optional Support Services

We also offer follow-up support if required, including:

  • Assistance in implementing recommended improvements

  • Specification writing for new or upgraded equipment

  • Authoring or updating your Pool Technical Operating Procedures

  • Complete done-for-you Pool Safety Operating Procedure authoring (NOP, EAP, PTOP)

PSOP & PTOP Reviews & Authoring

A good quality Pool Safety Operating Procedure document should perform as a concise, instructional reference for operating staff, and serve as a useful tool for site-specific training and new staff inductions.

We can assist in reviewing your existing risk assessments, Pool Safety Operating Procedures, and Pool Technical Operating Procedures, or even provide a comprehensive done-for-you authoring service from scratch, and complete and implement all your compliance requirements.

Specialist Risk Assessments

  • Dye testing of pools for hydraulic and disinfection distribution

  • Pool outlet and inlet entrapment and entanglement testing to BS EN 13451-3

  • COSHH audits & risk assessments

  • Chemical dosing system safety & fail-safe device inspection and testing

Dye testing and pool outlet entanglement and entrapment risk assessments should be carried out before a new pool is put into service or when any significant changes or upgrades are made to the pool water treatment system. When using our services to complete these tasks, a record of the test results and risk assessment is provided, together with any compliance recommendations.

Trichloramine Testing Service

When ammonia or nitrogen-based substances come into contact with chlorinated pool water, they form chloramines, the most aggressive of which is trichloramine (or nitrogen trichloride/NCl₃).

Trichloramine is a volatile, airborne gas which evaporates from the water’s surface and:

  • irritates the eyes, skin and the respiratory tract

  • corrodes metal structures (including stainless steel), electrical and lighting equipment in the pool hall

  • endangers the health of staff and bathers

Global and regional regulations are starting to limit exposure to trichloramine, which is why pool operators need a reliable way to monitor, assess risk, and control it. Lifeguards, swimming teachers and competitive swimmers, who may spend hours per day in this environment, are at particular risk of exposure.

Minimising trichloramine levels not only reduces the health risks to bathers, it also has a significant positive impact on the lifespan of the building fabric and its infrastructure.

Using new ClearAmine® monitoring technology, we can deploy a fast and accurate live monitoring service to establish and record the trichloramine levels at your facility during peak and off-peak pool use periods, and provide advice and strategies to help pool operators control and minimise them.

Plant Condition Surveys

Is your pool water treatment plant operating safely, efficiently and reliably? What is the remaining service life of your plant and can it be extended? What are the best available options for refurbishment or upgrading? These questions can be answered by conducting a comprehensive audit of plant equipment, including the type, condition, remaining service life, replacement cost, together with any recommendations for improving operating efficiency.

Additional services:

  • Ultrasonic thickness testing of steel filter vessels

  • Filter inspection & report

  • Endoscopic pipework inspection

  • Thermal imaging survey of plant room, electrical equipment, services and pool hall insulation profile.

Our many years of experience in this field will provide you with the information and advice you need to make informed, cost-effective decisions.
